Where's Frank?

Frank is a new film released on 9 May, co-written by Jon Ronson and starring Irish charmer Michael Fassbender.

Last night I noticed a Frank Sidebottom head stuck on a shop window. I thought it was a random sticker but on closer inspection realised it was a plastic type material that stuck to glass.

How cool! Then everywhere I looked there were more....

...and more!

Art on walls

I saw this billboard walking to work - I really loved the mix of photography and hand drawn lettering.

3D meals on wheels

We needed to create an image of a healthy meal plan and wanted all the elements in one shot. The concept started with the meals divided as a pie chart. Then I thought, what if you used a round bowl or plate as the 'pie' and added triangle segments of the day's different meals on top? I printed out some nice food, started spraying glue into a bin and stuck them onto thick cardboard. I wanted a nice 3D effect created by shadows so positioned them at different heights. I sent these pics to the photographer for the final shot. A very enjoyable Friday afternoon!

Time capsule

I recently unearthed a couple of sketchbooks from 1996. Kind of pre-digital era pinterest boards....

By hand

Every few months I receive a letter from my friend Andy Rumball, who lives in Berlin. He's a photographer (www.rumball.de) who still uses a fountain pen for all his correspondence. It's always a treat when one arrives.

School of Life Sunday Sermon

I went to the SoL Sunday Sermon last weekend at Conway Hall - like a village hall in the centre of London. David Baddiel shared his observations on fame; his own, other people’s and the myths surrounding this prized but also reviled status. I find the whole idea of being famous quite fascinating and have always wanted to ask people what it is actually like. On the (rare) occasion when I have met someone famous, it always feels un-cool to ask. His experience has been both funny and irritating in equal measure - one troll just sent him a tweet saying "Oi, Shit Beard!". There were hymns too; Fame by David Bowie and Creep by Radiohead, followed by tea and cakes.

Steeple Aston Cinema Club

My Dad and his friends Pete and Alan like to go to the cinema once or twice a month to see the latest CGI blockbuster - ideally in 3D. This is preceded by an 'all you can eat' Chinese buffet and a bucket of popcorn each. Down the pub one night, I casually suggested I'd make them some badges to wear on their nights out. A trip to a toyshop to get a Badge It! machine, some photoshopping and a night cutting out circles resulted in these club badges.

Soho, London

Montage of my own photography created for Soho based JFL recruitment. JFL wanted a piece of artwork reflecting the local area and the finished print is 3 metres wide.
